MEDIA CRITICS BEING IGNORED, by Dan Fost.The [New York] Times denies that any blackout is in place or that vengeance plays any motive in its decision not to review [COLORING THE NEWS]. Chip McGrath, editor of the New York Times Book Review, said he read the book with an eye toward deciding whether to review it and decided not to. He would not say what he thought of the book. One, I'm not convinced that it appeals to the kind of general audience we normally look for, McGrath said. I also think there's a question, and I don't know the answer: Is this newspaper . . . the best place to discuss a book that is so critical of this newspaper? |
